Import from Outlook

Last reviewed May 14, 2026

Outlook can export calendars in the standard iCalendar format (.ics), which NimbleCal can import.

Privacy note
The downloaded ICS file is plain text while it sits in Downloads, cloud storage, email, or shared folders. After you import it, the events stored in NimbleCal use the app's normal end-to-end encryption.

Option A: Outlook desktop app for Windows

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Go to the Calendar view.
  3. Select the calendar you want to export.
  4. Use FileSave Calendar to save an .ics file (you can usually pick a date range via More Options).

If you do not see FileSave Calendar (for example, you're using Outlook for Mac or the "new" Outlook), use Outlook on the web (Option B) or use Google Calendar as a bridge.

Option B: Outlook on the web

Some Outlook accounts let you publish a calendar to get an .ics link.

  1. Open Outlook on the web.
  2. Open Settings (gear icon) → View all Outlook settings.
  3. Go to CalendarShared calendarsPublish a calendar.
  4. Choose the calendar and publish it (use "can view all details" if available).
  5. Copy the ICS link, open it in a new tab, and save the downloaded .ics file.

Note: Some organizations disable calendar publishing. If you do not see this option, use Outlook desktop export instead.

Import into NimbleCal

  1. In NimbleCal, in the left sidebar under My Calendars, click the + menu.
  2. Choose Import calendar.
  3. Click Browse files.
  4. Select one or more .ics files.
  5. Pick a destination. With multiple files, you can Create a calendar for each file, Import into existing calendar, or Create a new calendar that combines everything.
  6. Click Import events. With multiple files, the button label includes the file count, such as Import 3 files.
Exporting multiple calendars?
Save each Outlook calendar as its own `.ics` file. NimbleCal can import those files together and create a calendar for each file.
Free plan note
Creating multiple calendars at once requires a Plus plan. If you're on Free and already have your 1 calendar, import into an existing calendar.
