"I only have a .zip file"

Google Calendar exports a .zip that contains one or more .ics files.

Fix:

  1. Unzip the file.
  2. Import the .ics files inside.

See: Import from Google Calendar

"This looks like a calendar invite"

If you see a warning mentioning METHOD:REQUEST, it means the .ics file is a meeting invite, not a full calendar export.

NimbleCal imports invites one-at-a-time so you can review the event and choose:

  • Accept
  • Tentative
  • Decline

Fix:

  • Import that invite .ics file by itself (not alongside other .ics files).

Note: No email or iTIP reply is sent in this version. Accepting only updates your local copy.

"I imported the same calendar twice and now I have duplicates"

Fix:

  • Import each calendar export once.
  • If you need to retry an import, consider importing into a new calendar so duplicates are contained.

"My times look shifted"

This is usually a timezone mismatch between the exported calendar and your settings.

Fix:

  • Check your NimbleCal timezone setting.
  • If the exported .ics includes a timezone, make sure your event is anchored to the correct one.

"Some items did not import"

NimbleCal focuses on calendar events (VEVENT). Some calendar exports include tasks (VTODO), which may be skipped.
